MICHELE KNIGHT/ PSYCHIC KNIGHT

I recently shot TV and celebrity psychic Michele Knight at her 'castle' in Devon. Michele's place is amazing, it's by the beach and in the countryside and is literally a beautiful castle. It was fabulous to meet Michele and spend the day there. I especially loved having fun with the donkey's. Below is my edit from the day. The final select is up on my website:

DAWN AIREY & JACQUI LAW

A few months ago I shot Dawn Airey and her family on a dairy farm in Oxfordshire. Dawn is Head of Channel 5 and her partner Jacqui is also a film-maker. They also have a beautiful daughter who was very excited about getting to dress up for the morning!
My original idea was to shoot it like an old Victorian portrait using a make-shift studio set up, so like a modern day Victorian family portrait.
However Dawn and Jacqui live opposite a dairy farm in the countryside so we decided to use that as a backdrop but still trying to date it so it looked like a portrait from the 'olden days'.
Of course it rained the whole way through the shoot but I'm quite pleased with the results, i think the dreariness of the day made the shots seem more authentic.
Below are some out-takes. The chosen shot is up on my website: www.alexgracephoto.com

THE COMPLETE SHORT STORIES - the still shots

Last month I shot a music video for the band, 'The Complete Short Stories'. In the video, we have this great bit where they jump backwards in stop motion and then when they reach the back wall, their clothes change into their 'glam' costumes and they then jump forward again. Here are some of the stills. I've not posted the full sequence as their are loads of shots but hopefully you can get an idea.
The full video will follow shortly. And if you want to know more or have a listen to the band, check out their myspace page here:

Johnni J

I recently shot my good friend Johnni for the World of Wonder. He is a TV Producer at WOW and so much fun to work with.
Johnni wasn't actually that keen to get in front of my lens. Not because of my photography but he just hates having his photo taken. And we also weren't really sure what to do with him!
Here are some the shots, I was quite pleased with how it went in the end....

Louie Spence Tearsheets

Last month I shot Louie Spence at Pineapple Dance Studios for Attitude Magazine. The shoot was fun and I enjoyed my little trip to the Dance Studios, although i was surprised no-one noticed my hidden dancing skills and tried to snap me up for the next show....!!
Below are the tearsheets from the May issue of Attitude.

Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Hindu Temple @ Ceylon Road

I came across a beautiful Hindu Temple on Ceylon Road in Katong, Singapore. I loved the signs decorating the temple with little motto's on how to best live and appreciate life. Below are some shots:

Nikole Lowe.....

I re-edited my shots of Tattoo Artist Nikole Lowe and decided on a new favourite which wasn't selected in my earlier blog post. I like the energy, fun and confidence of this shot.....

Manchester Tattooist Louis Malloy

I recently shot award winning tattoo artist Louis Malloy at his studio in Middleton, Manchester.

Louis designed David Beckham's famous back tattoo depicting a bald, winged, angelic figure. Beckham calls the tattoo his 'guardian angel' and premiered it in 1999 after work finished in April that year.
Other celebrities tattooed by Lou include Spice Girls Mel C, Mel B, Victoria Beckham and Ronan Keating.

In 2007, Louis became part of Discovery Channel's documentary programme 'London Ink' featuring the daily happenings at his tattoo parlour.

It was a pleasure to meet and shoot Louis. I liked that he didn't want to necessarily be depicted in the stereotypical way tattoo artists are often depicted, holding a needle and covered in tattoos himself.

Below is my edit from the 30 minute shoot.....

SINGAPORE

I've been trying to figure out what interests me photographically about Singapore for some time now and I've realised a couple of things.

The ever changing skyline, skyscraper upon skyscraper, there is constant development here. Singapore is so small that everything is built upwards. Condo's are constructed but only have a short life before they are demolished so a new one can be put in it's place. The newness of Singapore's architecture was uninspiring for me until I started looking up at the looming buildings and examining the relationship they have with one another and the space around them.

The other amazing thing about Singapore is the actual sky and how quickly it changes from beautiful bright sun to thunderous monsoon. On one side the sky can be bright and the sun shining, yet if you look in the other direction, all you can see is grey cloud.

I took the below pictures whilst on the upper deck of a moving bus which was quite an interesting way of working for me as usually, when shooting architecture, I take my time to compose my shot. This was a lot more instinctive, with only 1 chance to Capture The Moment.
