Gok's autograph/ business card

Gok contacted me a while ago to ask if he could use my photograph of him on his fan/ autograph card. Is that what you call these things?? The card he signs and gives out when somebody asks for his autograph.
Anyway, I was very pleased and flattered that Gok wanted to use my image. I received some copies through the post last week and here it is....

Busaba Shoot for Restaurant Magazine

Last month I shot Jale Erentok who runs the Busaba chain of Resturants for a feature in Restaurant Magazine.
The shoot was at the Bird Street Busaba in central London.

"Busaba Eathai, conceived by Alan Yau, is modern Thai eatery. Busaba is a Thai flower. Eathai is a fusion of the words eat and Thai, it replaces the term restaurant, which is often associated with formal/fine dining establishments. Busaba Eathai is a casual dining venue offering a single course eating experience devised to feed you with minimum fuss."

Busaba has a great reputation, I've always wanted to go but the queues at the Wardour Street venue in Soho usually tend to run down the street and now I understand why. Jale treated us to a fantastic lunch after the shoot and I'll definitely be going back!

It takes courage to be happy all the time!

I took this photo in April at a Hindu Temple in Singapore and sometimes need to remind myself so today I'm posting it.

I started an inspiration wall after meeting Larry Tee (he has one - it's quite impressive) and this was the first picture i stuck on it.
I sent it to Larry and he told me that although he liked it, sometimes you can just put things up that catch your eye and the meaning will come later, rather than being so obvious.

After that, I scoured the pages of the Observer Food Monthly for inspiration and ended up with a photo of a fish and an artichoke.
No meaning came to me, apart from that I like artichokes and I rarely come across them in the UK.

In the States, I used to eat them regularly. My friend, Zippy and I would have artichoke and wine nights which consisted of 2 (sometimes 3) steamed artichokes, some garlic and butter dip, much red wine and lots of catching up.
I miss those nights. Maybe that is the meaning behind it.

However, I had no idea what to make of the fish and having a picture of a fish and an artichoke on my wall was freaking me out so eventually i took them down.

Clearly I need more inspiration in my life!

Inca The Dog

Recently I shot my friend Alex's dog, Inca and below are a few pics.

Now, I have to say Inca was not the most co-operative dog I've had in front of my camera (bless her, she doesn't like the flash!) but we got there in the end....

And if you would like me to shoot of your furry friend, do get in touch!
